I'm doing an exploration cap quest for giants right now; Collect a snowfield rat's claw; and it's loving bullstuff. I've been killing these rats for almost 2 hours now and not one has dropped a claw. Drop rates in this game are horrible.
You sure you're killing the right ones?

And as long as all your characters are on the same account and the same server, you can summon pets just fine.

i used to play mabinogi and my user was laserdog and here is a picture of my charter

Yeah I got the claw after a while.

Anyway, I got an eagle and I'm loving pissed. Summon times make pets completely useless. I guess it's my fault for not knowing about it beforehand, but I got it and was flying around and having so much fun making money off of exploration quests, and after the summon time runs out, I'm back to taking loving hours to get to one animal just to sketch it and walk back to town. I can't believe they did that. I mean, look at WoW. Do they have a time limit on the mounts? No, because it's loving stupid. I bet if somebody had even suggested that at Blizzard, somebody would just say "What's the point of that?" Because all it does is inconvenience me. Sorry for the rage wall of text, but I payed money for an in-game item in a majorly free game, and I actually expected to be able to use it. Thanks for making me wait until tomorrow to use my pet for another hour before I have to wait a day again, Nexon. Also, what if I put an important item in the pet's bag? Well, guess that's MY fault. I almost want to email Nexon about it, but there's no way they'll change it. They probably think it's fine. Plus, I'm not really one to bitch to the developers about their game. [/crysomemore]

They do that so you'll buy more pets.  It seems to me that the entire game is designed for pets and mounts, then nexon or devcat thought, "hmm, how can we make a profit on this game? OH lets make the mounts last for a limited amount of time! they'll buy more that way!

But yeah, sleazy business tactic if you ask me.

Exactly. I've been wanting to email them more in the form of a question than a complaint but I can't find an email address anywhere on their website. But as I said, they won't change it cuz they won't think there's a problem with them getting more money with this method. But now I barely wanna summon my eagle at all cuz I don't wanna have to wait all day to use it again.

I wouldn't bother trying to email them, they most likely have lots of emails daily about the same thing and either won't reply or just have a bot answer every email about the subject.

That's my second reason to not do it.

I've never ran out of my bird's summon time. Just take mana tunnels whenever you can and don't leave them summoned if you're not using them.

My fast horse's time does occasionally expire, but that's really only when I'm spamming alby for 4 for money and leaving the horse summoned for pet support. My slow horse never really runs out of time cuz I don't use it that much, mainly only when I'm waiting to resummon my fast one or giving someone a ride.

As for leaving an important item in the pets inventory, I can relate on that. Back when I was still getting ice spear, I left all the pages on my fast horse. When I was doing the glowy spider run and the page dropped, I had to wait until the next day to get ice spear cuz all the pages were on my horse >:

It's just something you have to learn to live with. At least it's not like Maplestory where you have to pay again after 90 days.

Item rental like Combat Arms and Battlefield Heroes etc is the worst thing ever. It's worse than summon time by far. But whatever, I can probably cope with it, but if it was AT LEAST in game time instead of IRL server time it would be alright.

Also another minor complaint: Why the hell is dye worth 100,000 gold?

Except that in WoW, your mounts serve no other purpose but as trasport, in mabinogi they can fight and if they left summon times off, then there would be no reason to un-summon pets.

I'm particularly pleased with the game right now though, I traded a pair of stiff wood rim glasses for a bat suit and bought a lava cat from some guy for 120k :D

I had only 1 mount for 87 minutes for 1 whole day of mabi and I still had like another 5-10 mins left by the last hour of my play time. Gotta conserve your mount time. Hell I even ran the last half of g2 and my mount still had 5 mins. Just when you reach your destination, cancel summon and then finish what you do there, repeat, also why shouldn't they have pet times? In WoW you are already paying a monthly fee, in mabi you don't so they need a way to profit, which is why they sell pets with timers
Also another minor complaint: Why the hell is dye worth 100,000 gold?
Because it costs nx to get, I sold my 2 dyes from my rebirth and another one I bought for at least 300k for both.
