If every crime that got you into jail was a death sentence, i think people and prisoners alike would rebel against that.

Humans are, by nature, murderous and blood thirsty. The opening speech thing in Fallout 3 is completely right we've been spilling each other's blood since the birth of our species.

Yeah, we were built this way by evolution in order to survive, but we're at a point where most of all of the human beings on Earth do not need to kill to survive anymore. Our society has advanced to the point where ethics and morality can and should always be contemplated. Our tendencies to be murderous should be ignored, we're not in a constant state of survival warfare anymore.

If you're talking about crime rates as a whole, no. Study shows that the death sentence is not effective in deterring crime.

For you, sure, but not for hundreds of thousands of other people. I'd explain the psychology involved and why this is but it's long and arduous and I want to go play a game.

I'm not talking about everything's life together. I mean one measly person's life. Almost everyone's life is worthless, because idiots lives are worthless. Smart people's lives have value however, but a smart person, regardless of if they partake in crimes or not, will not go to jail. So we can assume that all people in jail are idiots, and since idiots lives have no value, we can execute them. Or we can at least not give them any luxuries.

Also, to all of you people who have said stuff about educating people: A person does not have to be educated to be smart. If they already are stupid enough to get into jail, then educating them might have some effect, but they obviously weren't meant to be smart, and the efforts are pointless.

If this makes no sense, its probably because you are either an idiot or I am too tired right now.

On education of prisoners: It would work for some prisoner, and have no effects on others. Some people in prison made stupid mistakes, and would like to improve their life, and would probably be less likely to commit a crime if they are educated. But abusively there will be some people that would not be effected be education, because they are criminals on a deeper level, and might still do crimes if they were educated.

I think a prison system should be about separating people that just made mistakes and people who are just criminals by nature. I think people who just made mistakes should have some punishment, but they should get an opportunity to earn more privileges, like education and more recreational options. People who are violent by nature would need to be kept in prison longer and probably less effort would be need to put on reforming their lives.

I believe that length of less violent or major sentences need to be shortened, but prisoners should rarely get the option of getting left out early. I'm sure there have been people who pretend to be really good and then get let out to do more crimes.

You can decide what is worthless and what isn't for whatever reason you like, it's just that it becomes less debatable when you do that.
