Author Topic: Do real gamers care about graphics?  (Read 17996 times)

I don't really care about graphics, but its PORT graphics that grind my gears. Take a look at Black Ops for the Wii, now back to the PS3. You can't even see the letters on a wall on the Wii for Christs sake.

I do love call of duty, but I don't do stuff like buy it at midnight release. I have LOTS of other games tho.

Play Minecraft at school at a free lesson.
Wait a few minutes.
"oh my god what the forget are you playing it's so pixellated is this 2005 grafix lololol"

"is this 2005 grafix lololol"
More like 1980. 2005 graphics look like this.

yes and no. depends on the gameplay, depends on the style, depends on the market-genre competition.

if we are talking big name, big franchise, large player base, modern game. then yeah its gotta have up to date graphics.
but graphics wont matter for a  more casual game, or smaller developer.

I love graphics.
But if the game's gameplay is bad, ew no.

I get this at my school all the time.

Has anyone else noticed that the people who think graphics are everything are usually the same people who play on consoles with their inferior graphics?

Anyways yeah, this annoying kid that looks a couple houses down from me came into my room one day when I was playing Minecraft, and the only thing he said about it was "graphics suck"

Has anyone else noticed that the people who think graphics are everything are usually the same people who play on consoles with their inferior graphics?
i know lol.
console gamers actually believe what they are looking at is quality. even if the damn consoles were x10 more powerful (but never would be, they always seem to be 2 steps behind anyways) then any gaming computer, the graphics would still suck. because no tv's are good enough yet.

PC-gaming master race <3

PC gamers are the largest of the races and the most awesome <3

The graphics in Minecraft are fine, it's just the style of the game. It allows customization because players can easily draw their own skins.

Graphics and art style do play a role but gameplay is more important. I mean do I want to admire graphics while watching a movie and doing stuff or play a fun game with plenty to do.

I love 8x8/16x16 textures etc, as long as they aren't stretched to stuff. I use them a lot actually, along with 2D tile based stuff. It's extremely simple stuff and you can get some really nice effects out of it.

unless they're like ps2 quality, i don't care

Earth Defense Force 2017 has stuff graphics but i love it still

A true gamer shouldn't judge a book by it's cover (Or rather, a game by it's graphics). A gamer should judge a game by the sum of it's parts, starting with gameplay, moving to controls, story, interaction (Community, "addiction"), flaws, then aesthetics (IMO). Having better graphics will make the game "better", but if the gameplay stinks or the controls make it impossible to play, then you got a pretty piece of crap.

Also, a gamer isn't someone who plays a verity of games (Though most gamers do), but a gamer is someone who sets aside time to play games (Usually whenever they get a chance) because they enjoy them that much. For example, one of the first games I ever played was Pokemon Red when I was 4/5. I played it whenever I could, though I could barely read. Because I enjoying it so much, I ended up getting a N64 a year later. That transitioned into PC gaming along with getting a GC. My Gameboy Color was replaced by my GBA, which was replaced by a DS and multiple PSP. My GC (Which will never truly be replaced) moved over for the Wii, and then an Xbox 360. So when was it that I became a gamer? I'd like to think it wasn't when I bought a system/games (Because anyone can do that), but when I played Red version late at night, grinding my Pokemon, not for achievement, but for the love of the game.

Real gamers care about the fun in games. If the graphics suck, hopefully they still enjoy the gameplay.

Allow me to quote the post for you here, because you clearly did not read it.
He did not say anything about Minecraft anywhere in there, you dumbass. Furthermore, you said you play a variety (or "VERITY") of games, which perfectly matches his description of a gamer.

He said ANYONE who plays cod, regardless of if they play a variety of games or not, isn't a gamer. That's is why I said "Reword it" And if you read, most of these people her who consider themselves real gamers comment about Minecraft.
