trap doors wouldn't serve much of a purpose entrance-wise as platforms work just as well and in a pvp server they wouldn't help either because anyone with a high enough resolution would be able to see them.

Ladders would be a great idea, platforms always look funny.

More NPCs would be great; bakers, chefs, whatever food related would be cool. I saw on the forums someone suggesting simple townspeople - build a house and they'll move in. I thought that was a great idea.

Minecarts would only go in 2 directions D: If you're making a downway, it'd be hard to get up. but I guess you could use magic mirror.
