Have you guys experimented with the minecart system at all? It seems very niche in applications, such as launching magma at invaders or driving marsdwarves around your fortress in circles to shoot everything up.

the most i've used it for it dropping wood down 12 floors so i don't need long hauls. and once for bringing up metal 75 z levels.

I managed to make a circle around my fortress walls, and set some marksdwarves going round during a fairly large elven siege (I got fed up with trading about three DF years ago and now everyone hates me because I killed their merchants and stole the goods (except the outpost liason)). I'm not sure what happened to route, it may have been broken/stolen, but the last I saw of my highly skilled marksdwarves was them flying off the fortress into a crowd of elves. The carts did some serious injuries, but so did the elves.

Message from this encounter: Do not let dwarves fly off castles. They will die. You may however use minecarts to decapitate elves.

Yeah, that's about it for minecarts in my fortress. I used them to drop some magma into my torture chamber, but the goblin within it has gone berserk and I can't get in there to clear the magma.

My ranger just went berserk, killed a cat and then suffocated himself.

try u
I haven't played in a bit so that might be wrong

Provided bushes classify as furniture or a mechanism that should work.

It most probably is U, since G for pickup usually only allows picking up of sand or ignition of nearby vegetation even when next to a bush.

I've been playing around in the arena as a bronze colossus, skipping elves across the lake, trying to bowl with kobolds etc. etc.

I had a setup of 2 horizontal lines of 6 elves and a line of 3 kobolds 7 tiles down. I grabbed the leftmost kobold by the head and threw him... And sent him straight into the other 2 to his right. He rams the middle one, stopping dead in his tracks, sending the middle guy flying into the right one who then flew a good 10 tiles from the impact. He ran his body across the rock floor a good 3 times, leaving puddles of blood on each impact. I still haven't managed to make them fly in the right direction.

I got my first reaction moment today. I was in a fistfight with a goblin thug that was harassing the town, and due to my fighting/situational awareness/wrestling skills, I was able to choose the option of catching a goblin's incoming punch with my left hand, a move which was then turned into a wrist lock. We'll probably make it harder to initiate wrestling from scratch, so that just jumping in and grabbing people will be hard to do without inviting a reaction against you. All in all, the rewrite is going a little slower than I'd like, but I'm continuing along with it.

I haven't played this in months and months, but I've decided to make a castle right now. A loving awesome castle with ballista batteries and stuff.

That looks sweet. Now just make a playable race that has it's default stats higher than the cap for humans. Play as peasant but destroy everything anyway.

I still can't get into dwarf fortress once the game gets to the point where I would need to build an army.
I like digging out the rooms and designing stuff like that though.
I'm looking forward to Game of Dwarves.
