Author Topic: Russian Cyrillic Mod [Россия] [1.1]  (Read 19907 times)

Why is half of this topic a pointless fight between Ipquarx and Sheath?

Because he is a bitter and misguided person.

Anyway, nice work. I can't use it but I'm sure others will put it to good use.

Thanks. c:

Its pretty niche.

Русско-английский форум называется. Только я и кое-кто ещё говорят по-русски нормально, а остальные в танке, и им влом научиться русскому языку.

if you can read it without google translate you're cool

Мне действительно нравится эта мода, кажется, довольно прохладно.

This is stupid. If they don't know English then how the hell do they even navigate the menus. We don't need to split up the community with crap like this.

Patamushta anni snaiyot neacho.

Maybe they play a Russian translation?

Maybe they know English?

Maybe the menu buttons are pretty easy to navigate through trial and error?

Maybe they have American/European friends?

Maybe you're missing the fact that the point of this mod is to translate the English characters to Russian?

This mod doesn't translate your text to Russian, it just changes the English characters to Russian ones because they normally use a different alphabet than English speakers. If they typed a sentence in Russian on a keyboard marked with Russian characters it would come out as gibberish to both Russian speakers and English speakers.

Also I am bumping this topic because this mod is a good idea. I agree, the American community doesn't understand just how international this game really is.

Everything but the first 2 are very valid points.

Because he is a bitter and misguided person.
I <3 you too
I have nothing against this mod, it's cool for the few people who would practically use this, I just think there are much better ways to spend your free time programming.

Maybe they play a Russian translation?
Wait, what?

Maybe they know English?
Great. Then this mod is useless.

Maybe the menu buttons are pretty easy to navigate through trial and error?
Really?

Maybe they have American/European friends?
So they would type english in cyrillic? Really?

No. What I'm saying is that this mod encourages chatting in foreign languages which will only hurt the community as a whole.

The point is, if they would type in English instead then it wouldn't be gibberish to anyone.

The game is international, yes. What we don't need is a big language barrier.

I just think there are much better ways to spend your free time programming.

If you're referring to my online stats viewer, that was my way of learning the server-sided programming and database languages, which are very valuable skills.

That is an intolerant, selfish opinion which I find borderline tribal.

If a Russian player wants to enjoy his language in Blockland, than he / she can. It is not up to you.

I am not a programmer, I usually get others to help with it. Either way, what you find an important mod is subjective. In many ways, a mod like this can be more valuable to a person than any vehicle or weapon.

No you won't, this is an add-on for ingame. This forum is an English speaking forum, so that brown townogy flops.

There are already many players who speak in their native language using English characters. Adding support for cyrillic will not divide the community at all. Chances are if they are speaking in Russian, they weren't wanting to talk to you anyway.

You don't need to create such a dramatic hypothetical. There is no problem here, I feel you are just looking for one.

It seems like that you lack basic logic and that trying to argue with you further is futile.

What exactly is lacking in logic here? Please, do try to explain your point. I still don't understand how this mod could possibly encourage an influx of non-English speaking Russians. The international community is prevalent whether you like it or not.

The problem is that it would encourage bilingual russians to speak russian, thus reintroducing a one-way language barrier.

The international community is prevalent whether you like it or not.
There is no "international community". There is a single, english-speaking, community. The wonderful thing about the internet is how you can communicate with people all over the world; let's not destroy that by encouraging reintroducing language barriers, shall we?
