Author Topic: Today's Mainstream Music v. Classic Music  (Read 12994 times)

1979 is over 15 years old, I avoided their 90's stuff to show you something considered new
I consider anything after 1990 to be pretty recent, since I don't really like anything after the early 80s.

The lyrics should be the #1 thing you listen to
No, no, no, no

No, no, no, no
I avoided saying that. I guess love of the instrumental is an acquired taste or something

If recent is after 1990, I have a stuff ton of stuff to play. But I feel finding music is something you do on your own and we can't force it on you

How are supposed to listen to the lyrics in an instrumental piece?

I hates vocals in music. I can only listen to instrumentals.
Music is a waste of time in my own opinion.

I'm not saying that the instruments aren't important. The instruments are very important, bur when you listen to a song, the lyrics are the first thing you notice. Then, when you listen to it more, you notice how cool the guitar sounds at this part and how you didn't notice this drum fill right here, and how the section of bass is amazing.

I do this all the time. I listened to Close to the Edge by Yes for the first time and though "Hmmm, I guess it's ok". Then I listened to it more and more. I noticed how a section of instruments playing before the words come are absolutely amazing. I noticed that the beginning of the song isn't just random instruments making rand noises and that it is actually planned.

That's not a reason to hate someone, but I'm confused. People are literally conditioned to like music. Any kind, but just music

maybe he likes noise

...you like me less because I don't prefer music?
Are you serious?

I like very specific genres, but I still don't genuinely enjoy it.

maybe he likes noise

Dubstep is noise. No, I don't like random noise..

Well, that's a first for me. I have never heard someone say they don't enjoy music as a whole.
