Being gay myself I feel like I'm well placed to weigh in on this.

I became gay a couple of years ago - there was paperwork, it was a bit of a hassle. I probably wouldn't do it again. Not worth it.

If there is valid proof that this guy was straight to every single degree, and then suddenly switched  to homoloveuality, I'll agree with you.

But saying you 'saw him be straight' isn't much to say. If you're gay, you tend to hide it.

I did not choose to be gay.
That is complete bullstuff.  I have never looked at a girl and thought "damn, shes hot", I have never wanted to do anything with a girl, and the thought of girls naked grosses me the forget out.  I have kissed girls before when we were "dating" which was just two young kids being kids.  I was revolted, it grossed me out and I hated it.  Op, you have no idea what you are talking about.  I am sorry that you're whole religion got you sucked in to believing bigotry lies that others have told out of pure hatred.  I hope that you will one day come to you're senses.  I will not "pray for you" like you have said countless times to many others, that is completely stupid.  
People are born gay, lesbian, bi, transgender, etc.  It is not a choice.  Homoloveuality is found in thousands of other species, and there is only one species that has a problem with it, humans.  So please stop with the bigot bullstuff, and open you're loving eyes for once.

Probably should have put this in the OP, but we were close pals at the time. I've been to sleepovers with him, and the such, and he never pulled any funny business. We'd always have long discussions on women and who we liked / thought was the hottest / etc

I don't think there's anything literally genetic about it, but I don't think it's your choice at all
for example, I don't remember ever deciding that I wanted to like richard. for that matter, I grew up being taught, and thinking for quite a bit of my early life, that homoloveuality was a sin, and would get you straight into hell. so it wasn't any kind of choice, I don't even know why I ended up this way.
in my opinion, people saying it's a choice is actually rather offensive
