980 is better than a 780ti
the clock speeds are amazing. and the lesser cudas dont matter since maxwell cudas are 40% more efficient. so you are really getting far more use out of them.
also with the far far less power being used, these will stock overclock themselves very well.

but i would own dual evga 970 ftw's over a single 980
thats what im planning anyway

After seeing that Black Friday and Cyber Monday aren't that great of days for part buying, I guess I'll be buying all the stuff as soon as EVGA restocks Newegg with their fantastic GTX 970.

Ugh, I really want to sell my 780 now just to get a 980. Since i was a bit low on money I went with Asus since i didnt really think the difference in Asus and EVGA was worth spending $100 more. Now I kinda regret it :/

Try to sell it on Amazon.

Any problems abound?

nah you dont need to upgrade from a 780. that should be good for awhile.

I decided that after looking at the price. Even if i do sell it, I still have to pay another 100 for the 980. I guess the hype of it and the fact that they are better make me believe that i need it, but in reality i already have more than i need.

Anyone wanting to buy the EVGA version of 970? If so, you might want to hold off for a while: http://www.eteknix.com/evga-gtx-970-feature-manufacturing-defect/

I don't get all the hype for EVGA, most of their designs are just stock coolers. ASUS and MSI have a bunch of better heatsink designs. Though that tiny EVGA 750 was adorable.

evga always puts out like 2 custom versions for most models. for 20 bucks more you can always get +20% the power over whatever asus or pny put out
also the step up program they have is what saves me hundreds of dollars a year to constantly have top notch stuff

plus real men dont air cool anyway, they may as well send us the bare gpu boards

Ouch.

Just bought a fang r9. Pretty excited for a desktop I can bring anywhere.

Ugh, is it still possible to buy a digital copy of Windows 7 anywhere? I foolishly assumed it would still be in stock at a store around here and I'd really like to get my hands on it today

you should get 8 instead

This. There really isn't any excuse not to get 8 now.

I was under the impression 8 was geared towards touch screens with all that live tile nonsense
