Poll • Military Weapons

Keep the military weapons to intensify and create chaotic combat.
Cut down on military weapons to keep realism and make finding guns very serious.

Will there be crafting, etc? or will it just be a carbon copy of DayZ?

Will there actually be melee weapons unlike in DayZ?
Yes there will be melee weapons. In the future I expect us to have a variety of melee weapons other than just a Hatchet, Crowbar and Machete.

That's kind of a silly thing to say because DayZ will soon have crafting. I'll run crafting by Derroith, but I don't think he's impressed by the idea--there aren't many crafting recipes I can think of that are necessary for the game. Here are some ideas though:
  • Make a low-quality ghillie suit out of brush.
  • Pathetic excuse for a silencer out of an empty water bottle and toilet paper.
  • Wooden barricades out of misc scraps found in lumberyards (salvage?).
  • Blunt spear out of fence pole and glass shard.
  • Shoulder harness out of Blockhead skin?!

I don't plan to get too in-depth with a crafting system and implement ridiculous recipes that ruin the game. All recipes will produce something simple and of low-quality.

I think we might actually do a development blog, if you guys are willing to give us a set of questions go at it. I'll update the op while you guys are at it.

Here are the screenshots:

Are there going to be other monsters than zombies or will there be something to make this actually unique?

Something wacky and lego related would make sense. Doesn't necessarily have to be zombies.

Also, Cataclysm had a great crafting system that's similar to what you said, early game you can really only make a nail board from smashing benches apart and molotov roostertails. However, as you gain skills in Cataclysm, you're able to build better things like improvised flamethrowers and radios and pipe SMGs from deconstructing broken machinery and scavenging spare parts. Hopefully something like that happens.

So, are there going to be RPG elements and character development or?

There will never be a leveling system. The initial release will not feature any additional monsters, but if they are implemented in the future it will likely be infected critters. I have also considered the idea of having zombie difficulty vary based on location. Zombie difficulty will vary in speed (greatly), damage (slightly), size and health (slightly).

We're also planning on doing wild animals that you can hunt and kill, gut, then eat to regain health or simply survive by not starving. We don't really intend on having custom zombies to the server because they're a bit annoying and ruin the feel in certain aspects considering this is going to be taken very seriously.

I still haven't considered crafting but I'm leaning towards no as it's a ton of extra work for a couple of small things that slightly alter the game. I've thought about it and it just seems stupid to make like traps and such in a broken world where you're looking for food, not wood to create a wall. Sure you're making a home but the whole point is you're constantly traveling.

I think we'll do the development video over the weekend. As of now we'll be saving your questions for the video and we'll go into detail on commonly asked questions and old questions.

Shappeh is doing scripting? Awesome. Good luck guys.

So it's a carbon copy of DayZ pretty much? Shame to see so much work being put into something that won't bring anything new to the table.

Don't worry, there will be new stuff, there already is.

Who would have guessed it's a DayZ copy? But nonetheless we can at least hope it's a good copy of DayZ.

It's just that- well- why would people play a Lego copy of DayZ when they could just play DayZ and have a arguably better experience in the engine it was designed for?

I would like it if a developmental blog was opened up for this, I would read it. I just have one question, is there a 100% guarantee that DayB will come out this year?

Will there be sprinting and not some stuffty run fast for 3 seconds to be drained all out of sprinting fuel. Like it gradually makes you hungry(?) and starts to lower your thirst(?).

So we can't remake our favorite games in blockland

why can't I just go play with real legos because they're designed for real life
