Author Topic: Nations at War - Closing Time!  (Read 238839 times)

Swat, you yourself attempt quite a bit of justification.
Also, the intention of that was to make people not freak out and to keep space for new nations.  As both of those have been accomplished...

But you do it because you have host power attached.  It's been bothering me since earlier RPs too.  I throw in revolts and research because that happens in reality, even when tech ceilings are in place I make the best of what I have.  AC's scenario is far from realistic-  No large society with hundreds of ethnic groups would just be right as rain for hundreds of years without mild-to-severe riots, mild-to-drastic economic and political shifts and partial dissolution.

I must defend myself because people here (partially including myself) have a grasp on how societal changes work.  Mikoyan is an exception, and while he frequently opposes me in RPs, he frequently hits the nail on the head with realism, and that's something I respect immensely.

This is why I find it unreasonable that I can't have the slightest foreign influence in former territories, which have 90% ethnic majority, and get ignored on a personal request that I made on behalf of them, and yet AC remains this eternally strong fortress that never has any problems.

You see that huge corner jutting in my North American claims?  Can I just claim a little inside that to round out my territory?  But then leave the rest as room for a new country.

And that little stretch of Iceland so I can round that off too.

Then I am good.

I would like to point out that the entire nation broke into four factions and the entire world had the opportunity to back a side other than the two I melded into the one I controlled.  I have also been planning to have major political issues leading to a Salazar like regime for a couple decades.  Now I never said that you could exert absolutely no influence, I said that you couldn't control the percentages of somebody else's population.

And yes, you can go ahead Lancelot, I'll edit the map.

All open area is bordering me in some way, lol.

I welcome you, new neighbors!

I'll give my land to MYK.

I said that you couldn't control the percentages of somebody else's population.

And yes, you can go ahead Lancelot, I'll edit the map.
I thought I made it very clear that when I said "independent", it meant that I wanted it to not be a part of UOU. The UOU ignored my request to split W. Erinaum from UOU after saying "The UOU asks what both hemispheres want" on account of a TL;DR, and then I get screwed over for it, and criticized for protesting it on account of SirLancelot's blunder.

As for your so-called split, I doubt that you meant it to question the collective sovereignty of the AC at all.  To this day, not a single thing has happened- it's not even like you roleplay.  From the back of my mind, I've been thinking that the AC is just there as some god-modding landmass that occupies extraneous amounts of space, and just grants favors to whoever it sees fit, even during Erinaum's membership in the TP.  AC is and has been for a long time more or less an extension to host power, something unquestioned and unfaltering.

That actually was the idea, so that the AC could be limited and people would lay off trying to destroy it for a while.  Also, in that poll around the period when everyone hated the AC, the vast majority of people said that I do a good job being the OP.

Everyone, post your opinion so we know outsiders aren't skewing the results:  Have I been a good host?
If not (most agree with you) I'll step down as OP, and if so, Swat, you've burned yet another bridge.
I personally think I've done an okay job here.

Well, im back, sorry for being busy recently.
also is it possible if i can take the land where fredenjager once stood?

You've been a fairly reasonable host, all except for using the AC how you did.  I am certain that if anyone else did that in your topic, you would call them out on it.

If you were two separate people running the AC and as a host separately, this would all be pretty fair to all parties.

Rockin, note that I have possession of a small island along the Canadian coast as a research colony.  It just wasn't drawn in.  It's somewhere ⅔'s up the coast.

I've always thought his hosting was as fair as I've seen.

To be honest, i argee.

Plethora seems to be a decent host, but i doubt any of us have yet seen his "badmin" side.

[rant]Now on to the smart person, Swat.  It is your prerogative to believe that I have ill intent in my actions, that I never intended to endanger the AC when I manufactured my rebellion, or the short reign of pirates in Madagascar, or when I allowed blazer to rebel, that I have failed to reoleplay the growth and preservation of my nation, and that I have made a poor show of keeping self interest and the OP separate, even after your acknowledgement that I did not abuse being the OP during blazer's rebellion (nor did I when APEP was basically the anti-AC League), and I have made it clear that people can go ahead and call me out if I powergame; but these people seem to disagree more or less, at least enough to say that I'm not the worst OP people have had to deal with.  I'm not Alexander Hamilton, but nor am I Aaron Burr.  I will also add that aside from after your return to the RP, Erinaum experienced no noteworthy internal quarrels such as the riots, economic fluctuation, &c. that you accuse me of not RPing out.  And lastly, remember that it is your right to go off and start the next incarnation of this if you feel that my own self interest renders me incapable of being the OP and you feel that you can do better and enough nations will make the move.[/rant]

Also, it's within Lancelot's rights to not let go of western Erinaum.  It was given to him, and if he wishes to hold onto it, he can, regardless of who owned it previously.

When, aside from now as you argue, have you seen my badmin side?  On what other occasion have I been the OP, or really anything much more than a mapmaker?

Edit:
I'll give my land to MYK.
You can only give up to 1/2 away, you'll pick and choose what MYK gets.  Meanwhile, if UOU's claim to the rest of Greenland is suspended until Muslim decides if that's part of MYK's inheritance or whether it's blank (UOU's).

Rockin, you'll have to wait a few days so that the land's been unoccupied for a week (excepting very small portions), that way there's been plenty of time for a new nation to start there.  After that it's up for grabs.

Final Edit:
The Tech ceiling was put in place on Nov. 30, so that means it should be 2077 ish I think, unless it only became official after this:
Also, to keep things from getting way out of hand with technology and stuff, I'd like to freeze the year at 2015 if that's alright with over half of you.
