You know what I hate?
I hate how schools need lock-down drills. I hate how, taped to the wall next to every door in our school, is a cable tie that's used to wrap around the top of the door to prevent intruders from opening the door. I hate how kids are now being taught to, during a lock-down, look for objects that can be used to throw at or hit an intruder with. I hate the idea that an intruder, if smart, could simply pull the fire alarm, wait for everyone to exit the school, and then start firing. I hate how popping balloons is not allowed in our school because it may be interpreted as a gun shot. I hate how, as I walk from building to building at my school, the thought of someone lying on the hill across from our campus with a sniper rifle sometimes goes through my head. I hate how people need extensive security systems for their homes. I hate how people feel the need to carry a firearm for protection. I hate how, right now, at this very second, I am aware of the possibility that someone might break into my house and kill me and my entire family. I hate how the mere thought of any of these things is now common as opposed to 30 years ago.
That's what I hate.
I've always been more anti-gun than pro-gun, but at this point, I really don't care how it's fixed. I just want there to be no reason for going to great lengths just to protect people from said guns.
