(this is gonna be a long one)
Planr, the most recent "exploit" you started a crusade against is something we have literally been using since our first visit to hypercore. I KNOW you knew about it. BDLS showed you how to do it, and installed it on Richelieu, Bismark, Iowa, and Yamato. and I showed you how to do it again recently.
I'd remembered you using a logic jumper on HyperCore, only after you reminded me of it a few weeks ago. It was a crappy little warp shuttle that you were going to use in a community race. So I did know that there was such a thing as using logic clocks with jumpdrive. However I had thought it was merely a simple device that only worked with one clock and one computer. Logic was much less advanced and reliable then, so it wasn't much of an issue at the time. But the way logic is now, has changed that.
I NEVER knew its potential capabilities were as ridiculous as the trans-galaxy auto-jumpdrives you and Incap and friends have been using, with dozens of clocks and dozens, even hundreds of jumpdrives all being charged at once. When I tested it myself at its potential, I jumped between galaxies within around 10 minutes with just a moderate-sized rig that I slapped underneath the Gyoza. I had never thought it was capable of that until you told me so in similar words, and then my own tests confirmed it.
You know just as much as I do that this mechanic is incredibly unbalanced and needs to go, in its present form. If you didn't, you and Incap would've never fussed like you did when I
shared it with the public on SMD.
I was also never aware - until you recently told me - that BDLS did those changes to my Sunrise battleships. I never noticed it, and I never used it. Surely if I had, we wouldn't be having this conversation right now.
You can pull the "you knew already" card if you want, but I only knew so much. If I had known then what I know now, I would have told SCHINE a very long time ago.
However, since you have some sort of inane, dare i say autistic obsession with sticking it to Incap and TwoNiner
Here we go again with this handicapped spin of yours about my supposed obsession with those two. Yes I dislike them both. They are elitist douchebags, and the things they have done and said to me and others more than confirm that. Believe it or not I really am only interested in trying to help get this overpowered mechanic balanced or patched somehow. I don't have the desire or time to obsess with them. As I've said before, Incap and TwoNiner can go forget them
selves, I won't do it for them. I talk about them so frequently because they, and now you as well, are the ones responsible for causing these problems with overpowered mechanics going unchecked.
Feel free to try to mislead others about my intentions if you want but I have better things to do this for than spiting you or your new "friends".
you have once again gone out of way to make sure something that YOU DON'T LIKE is patched.
If that's true, why the hell do you think I made
this thread? I like the fact that you can use logic with jumpdrives; it has good applications. But as I have said repeatedly in that thread on SMD and also on here too, it's extremely unbalanced and needs balancing. We run into unbalanced stuff all the time; this jumpdrive thing is nothing new. But what sets it apart is the fact that your elite group is deliberately trying to withhold these things from the devs so that they DON'T get patched so that you keep your stupid little "secret advantages". That is evidence of them being unjustified advantages.
Incap loving nailed it in his response. You are stifling innovation.
Incap's argument was rife with buzzwords and basically boiled down to "you shouldn't help people play this game, because only smart people like me deserve to use these mechanics". It was an appeal to elitism. News flash, he doesn't get to dictate stuff like that. Eventually I told him to
forget off and he did, because he knew he was accomplishing nothing with his half-assed pro-ignorance argument.
Really of course, he was just butthurt that his little secret was no longer his little secret. He didn't like the fact that I was sharing this mechanic with everyone else because it meant he had to *gasp* play on a more level field. All I have stifled here is ignorance.
I don't want to share anything with you anymore (not that I could for that matter; you've blocked and delete my contacts on every form of communication) because I cannot trust you to deem that it's unbalanced and go crying to schema on skype.
I've only told schema about overpowered mechanics
twice, out of countless times that you've shared some sort of powerful mechanic with me. The real reason you do not want to trust me is because you don't want your secret advantages shared with others, even when they are overpowered or unfair.
I've removed you from my contacts and friends list because the person you are now is not the same person I was previously friends with. I don't know you anymore. You've become an elitist douche since you started hanging out with Incap and TwoNiner, and it's made me sick.
FYI, both times I have gone to Schema about unbalanced game mechanics, namely this logic jumpdrive and the shield-drain, he has agreed with me that they needed balancing or were unintended. I only talk to him on very rare occasions. I don't waste his time with petty stuff.
I have stood up for you COUNTLESS TIMES.
A few times, yes. Half the other time you were serving my ass on a silver platter just because I happened to disagree about something minor with you.
I have gone out of my way for you on the council time and time again.
Really? This is news to me.
The fact that you repay me with this sort of bullstuff is loving absurd. You are the same tier of stuffter that steers game development in your direction because it suits you.
You're really gonna pull the "you owed me" card on me? forget off, I don't owe you anything.
What I want for game balance is less important than what is in the best interest of fair play for everyone. Traditionally SCHINE has always been the group that's decided that, but recently you and Incap have decided that you apparently know better than SCHINE, so you've tried to control what they don't change by withholding information from them out of distrust for them - out of fear of them balancing your little "advantages".
This is demonstrated via some of your suggestions (extend homebase protection to warpgates? are you loving with me?)
We all have bad ideas from time to time. But I'd say withholding information on unintended/abusive game mechanics from SCHINE just so your faction can benefit is a bad idea.
to demanding that EVERY CHANGE IN GAME BALANCE BE REVERSED until you get used to it a week later.
This is a gross exaggeration. I am slow to change sometimes, I'll admit that. But plenty of game balance changes that have come my way, I have embraced from the start. Take for example the faction territory mechanics. I had suggested those a long time prior, and was very glad when they were added. The dodecahedron planets, I welcomed with open arms as well. And I absolutely LOVED it when we got galaxies and jumpdrive implemented. It was only when changes to ship mechanics forgeted my stuff up that I got upset, and most of the time yes, I did get used to it a week later. I am willing to admit that is a fault on my part, being unaccustomed to some of the changes on occasion.
In the time it took you to simply finish the weapons on Gyoza I built a ship that size and REFIT IT. You then complain that there are too many rapid changes to game balance. Planr, this is not the case. You are just too slow.
Yeah and that ship was probably way sloppier put together than anything I have ever made. My ships are ones of quality. That's why they take so long to make. Maybe there is a certain overall efficiency to your methods of just slapping together system blocks and throwing a hull cover over it, but I prefer to put meticulous effort into the things I build. You have a fair point, I am too slow at building, however I think the end product of the long hours I put into my ships pays off. However I don't see how that is relevant here. Sounds more like you're just trying to come up with whatever dirt you can about me. If this is your time to let out all your anger at me about the things you hold against me, then that's fine, because I am done with you and your elitist stuff.
I don't know what kind of balance you want. There will never ever be an entirely level playing field for a variety of reasons. The first is that people have differing levels of expertise with playing the game. If you seriously want to dumb down the game to be a level playing field for everyone you run the risk of removing any depth and charm to the game.
The balance I want is one where people can't harbor WMD-type weapon mechanics in secret, because there will be no more unfair advantages left to keep secret. I am all for factions having secrets. But I am strongly against a single group of people keeping an unfair advantage a secret.
Indeed, not everyone is as skilled at a game. And that's fine. The less skilled will always be the ones that win less; I don't want to change that. You are right that such a removal of that factor would take a way a good deal of depth and charm from the game. But that's not what I am against. I am against
unfair and
unintended game mechanics being kept SECRET, ESPECIALLY when they are being held solely by faction elites rather than the developers, AND EVEN MORE SO when it's being held by those faction elites just so they can have more power. That's what's at stake here.
I wish you knew about how many projects I had to keep secret from you when we were in Arstotzka because I knew that the moment you heard about it you'd determine it was somehow unbalanced and demand it be fixed. Literally all of those projects were (and still are) INTENDED FEATURES. I'm actually kind of glad you decided to cut off communications because this means I no longer have to pusillanimous individualfoot about with discussing game concepts with you.
If they're intended features, you have absolutely nothing to worry about. The problem is, as i've now stated too many times, you are deliberately withholding information about unintended features and clearly overpowered mechanics from SCHINE. The way Shield Drain was previously was unintended, and TwoNiner, Incap and you all tried to keep Schema in the dark about it so he wouldn't fix it. When he found out, he made it clear that it was not intended by patching it (he also literally said it was unintended when he and I talked about it on Skype). You and Incap have been trying to dictate what SCHINE does and doesn't find out about game mechanics, all because of your stupid loving faction. I sacrificed a lot just for the sake of helping Schema know about the unbalanced shield drain. Hell, I used it myself, just like I have used this super logic jumpdrive of yours, because it helps show others why it needs to be fixed.
What Schema desires is more important than what I want, because I admit that I would never be able to balance this game. But I do what I can to help. If he decides that a mechanic I tell him about is just fine, then it's just fine, and you can then feel free to parade around in my face and laugh at me for being wrong. The devs know better than I do what's good for balance and what's not. Which is why I am extremely careful and selective about what I go to Schema with. I'm betting that like 90% of the things you are withholding from me are things I wouldn't go to him about anyway; I'd probably make a few suggestion threads and a bug report for some of them but that'd be it.
TL;DR go forget yourself.
Isn't that supposed to be my line?
edit: Zoro has been one of the greatest resources to myself and the council in terms of establishing the current combat and faction balance. He's working with us now to balance missile damage. You are out of your depth on this one.
This doesn't change the fact that he's a cheating conniving starfish. It's about time your council term ends, anyways. Your previous private threats to me to use your power as a councilor to suppress fixes/balances for the logic jumpdrive is just another reminder to me of the corruption you are involved in, and why you need to go.
