Author Topic: PSA: Stop judging people by groups they are in  (Read 22669 times)

for a second I thought this was aimed at Nal and his clique

I honestly giggled reading the entire OP.
If you don't like people eating your food and yelling at you, then eat your food somewhere else.
that reasoning is terrible

that's a bad way to see it
'if jerks are being jerks just go away' is reasonable for school or something, not an online forum

if you're affiliated with something unsavory people will get a bad impression right off the bat
i.e., a lot of the people here don't like mlp, (some probably hate it), furries (even though a lot are, a lot still don't like them) AND qi is known for not being the greatest group of people, so ofc people will look down on you
there's obviously more hateful characters on this forum then there aren't, so being known with 3 unsavory things will really give people bad impressions about you

i personally agree with the whole don't judge thing but that's probably because i don't really hate anyone for anything they like

I've learned to stop caring what people think, it helps a lot

Caring about what others think can sometimes forcibly boost one's motivation too, but only if they know they're at the top.  Like being known for being good at something.  You don't want the feeling of grief associated with screwing up (especially after being implicitly declared "the top" through general consensus), the pressure will follow you and you'll either have to keep at it or give up and face that grief.

Ok now to part 2. Stop judging people for what groups they are in. Not every brony clops and not every furry does whatever the fur equivalent to clopping is. Some just have their love drive mixing with their interests and I am 90% certain that happens to everyone. When I was 13 and just starting puberty I really liked Pokemon, I would look up May and Dawn research because of interest plus love drive.

um what

Stop associating yourself with stuffty groups and you won't be generalized as part of said groups.  It's that simple.

This, so much. The other option is that you can always just keep it private and not constantly tell people about it. Don't want to be made fun of because you like MLP? Then don't bring up things in conversations with friends things like how much you like this or that pony or how this is your favorite pony song/episode/plushie.

Or maybe people should stop berating other people because they like a TV show they don't like, seriously.

or maybe people should stop bringing it up like it's the hottest stuff when it's just a cry for attention or a longing to"fit in" with some group.

It's not necessarily that. Believe it or not, people can like a kids show and still be adults. Yes, a lot of them have a fundamentally different mindset than other people that actually allows them to enjoy it. A lot of them think different than you do, they act different than you do, they feel different than you do.

If you don't happen to like how a person acts around you, even though they're not actually doing anything bad, what do you do?

If they're not causing actual harm: don't be a richard. Ignore them, avoid them, whatever. Just because they think different than you doesn't mean you need to go around antagonizing them.

Of course, if they're legitimately just doing it to be an attention whore, by all means.

i bet people agreeing here watch...

anime

Lol, bullstuff. If cartoon fandoms are enough to alleviate your symptoms, then you never had depression to begin with.
i dunno my buddy says it helped
