Author Topic: Creating a FULL LENGTH Movie in Blockland!  (Read 19823 times)

I have to agree with McZealot, judging by your previous videos which weren't bad, but certainly not film material; I doubt this will ever even be completed. The only time a long length Blockland film was completed, it was by BlockEye Entertainment, whom everyone trusted to create long and high quality content. It really appears that this is a complete mess, I mean take for instance:
11/100 actors
Why do you need exactly 100 actors? Are those just extras or something? What about the server limit? Default servers don't allow up to a 100. Are you going to purchase a dedicated server instead? Are you gonna ask a friend to host you a dedicated server? How are you going to manage and control 100 actors? How are you even going to get 100 actors? I mean there are barely 100 active daily forum users, and only in rare situations in the history of Blockland has a server had a 100+ players on. Are you not expecting to get 100 actors, is that just like an imaginative goal?

To be honest, I'm quite surprised that people are supporting this project as heavily as so, probably since you're new to the forum we want to inspire some creation. Yet only me and McZealot seem to be telling you the hard truths. Not that there is anything wrong with it, I'm glad you've found a mine-load of inspiration to carry this out instead of being a boring, depressed pessimist like myself; however you say that this project will probably take four months - I can guarantee that you'll encounter problems and give up by then.

I mean, what are planning to record/edit this with? If you want to keep the audience's attention then you're going to want special effects/green screen, which you can't get in (what I presume you're using now) Windows Movie Maker. Are you going to purchase Premiere Pro or Sony Vegas instead? Those can be over $200.

It's always great to see some ambition in the community, but there is a point where it becomes obviously ridiculous. Why not create like a ten minute video, with a short and sweet outline, with maybe ten people at most. Save up to purchase some better equipment, then maybe create like a video recording clan or something. Then who knows, in the future you could follow Blockeye Entertainment's footsteps and come back to this.

good luck hopefully it turns out how it's supposed to :)

Can I PM you instead of email?

I get what your saying, and I know the only way to change your mind is just to make the damn thing, so that's what I'm going to do. The reason for so many actors is so that I can make sure people are on when we need them to be. It's a very ambitious project but it's going to get done.

well lets not forget blockeye wasn't necessarily making history when they first started. the films were quite poor (all dialogue appearing as comic sans subtitles poor) and the actual video quality was atrocious on just about all their 2007 videos

op i cant promise itll be like the greatest film ever, but i still think you should make it cause you could get to the point where you could create something awesome

I'm curious now. What editing software are you using? Windows Movie Maker is fine for shorts. But not for a full on movie. If you don't have one, then i've took the liberty of puting some non-expensive yet effective editing softwares

1. AVS Video Editor: $59
2. Corel VideoStudio Pro X6: $49.99 (50)
3. Magix Movie Edit Pro 2013 Plus: $58.98 (Wierd Price)
---A bit more expensive---
4. CyberLink PowerDirector: $79.99 (80)

These are cheap yet good working video editors. If you have money to buy the cheapest one here ($50) then you should train with the video editor.

I'm using a Mac, my editing software is Final Cut Pro X. I'm also using Adobe After Effects.

I wonder if I should also be a builder. Because I build good, and I love to build.

I'll sign you up for one

Id rather have somebody with shaders record if this becomes a thing

WMM is the most underrated movie making software everyone acts like it is the worst thing ever but in my experience it is extremely capable of creating a nice film. its def not an editor and it's not for CGI but if i am just making a blockland scene sony vegas 1425.234 and wmm 6 are gonna look identical.

Record at 0.25 speed and make the film x4 faster if you to maintain a high FPS rate in a stressful environment. Especially useful with Soft Shaders.

I'll be recording with shaders.
