Author Topic: How do we force darkness on people without shaders?  (Read 50039 times)

Oh well. I don't think there's any solution then.

Unless you do a lot of raycast and make players "in shadow" invisible or something similar

That's too much work for grandma computers.

I thought you wanted the argument over, and the problem to be solved.

The invisible thing could be cool though

But that idea is something entirely server sided and actually gives an advantage to people who do use shadows. People with shadows on will know where they go invisible, where people without will just see people going invisible and they aren't sure why.

This would be server sided.

We can try it out. Let's do it.

Even on minimum people with it off also have an advantage because you can't see fog unless you are on minimum. I don't think there is anything to do about fog though.

I made a add-on for this.

You might of saw it.

Theoretically, you could mount a 'fog image' to the player, but the only way that would look right is if you had it set to only appear in first person, in which, you'd also have to force everyone to play in first person. Basically what this would be layers of large spheres with transparency.

And you can't force everyone to be in first person because it's client sided and can be overridden.

You can. It's a default datablock value.

Clients can disable it.

I have playertypes that force first person.

Well, most likely the people that just googled it right now like I just did

How many people know how to do that though, compared to the number of people who know how to turn shaders off?
