Author Topic: How do we force darkness on people without shaders?  (Read 49953 times)

Well, technically, you CAN force darkness that way you described, though it would look ugly.

Anyway, I'm going to say that the ReShade compatibility list does mention Blockland, so they might as well be aware of the game, just in case.

Pretty much noone. Everyone can run minimum.
I can't, don't assume things.

Is your pc older than 6 years or something?

Blockland's minimum requirements should be "a computer worth more than $2". Then we can remove the OFF setting.
That'd be a bad idea.

I can run minimum by myself with no performance issues. But if there's a lot of other people on the server, my performance starts going down.

I have available up to Max for some reason but I suffer a noticeable FPS drop in Minimum with no bricks and the game is unplayable with Medium shaders.

6 years isn't that old
besides......... why should someone have to have a less than six year old computer to play a ten year old game

Actually no, it's around 3-5 years old I'm pretty sure.

Hey

Hey hey guys

How about a client addon that covers your screen with a black sprite and sends the CRC to the server upon connection to see if it's modified or not?

Because that 10 year old game was updated to have laggy shadows :cookieMonster:

A ten year old game that recieved a total graphical overhaul 4 years ago and was last updated under 3 months ago

you can send a fake crc instead
there's literally no way to do this in a client addon and not have it be abused

The updates are really just bug fixes though, and it wasn't a "total graphical overhaul" Badspot just added in some cool effects that you can choose to have on (if you have the right specs.)

He got rid of terrains and interiors, an important and integral part of the game for 6 previous years before the update, so it's a pretty damn major update. 4 years later it may seem like 'some cool effects' but if you were around for the release of shaders you'll remember how insane the hype was. It was a step forward for Blockland. Some people still haven't stepped forward. I say forget em.

And even if the updates are minor it shows that Badspot is still involved with the community and that the game is still in development.

I never said the update wasn't major, and I never said Badspot doesn't care about this game. I also agree about the people who still whine and moan about bringing maps back, a few months back there was like, a topic asking for maps back like, every 2 days.

Yes it is.

Do you want the game to look 10 years old? If you can't keep up with new tech, too bad. You can play v20.
