Author Topic: Nintendo Switch Presentation - January 12th  (Read 151361 times)

did somebody post a synopsis already?
Here's a summary I made real quick of the presentation for those who may have missed it:

Hardware Information

- The Switch is intended to be released on March 3rd this year, with a suggested retail price of $299.99. Preorders start supposedly in the
  next hour.
- Online services will have a new functionality supposedly akin to that of Playstation Plus - it will be free to use as a trial until Fall 2017
- Region locks should be removed now for the Switch
- Battery life off the dock will range from 2-6 hours, but can be charged while in use
- Eight Switches can be connected at once for local multiplayer play
- JoyCons have:
   - Amiibo reading functionality
   - A button to capture pictures and soon photos
   - A camera at the tip that can identify, for example, hand gestures
   - A wrist strap
   - Tactile weight adjustments and sound with motion controls

Software Information

- 1-2-Switch is a multiplayer minigame with a focus on looking at the other player. This is to be released with the console.
- ARMS is akin to that of Wii Boxing, but has a unique style and some different mechanics. This is also a launch game.
- Splatoon 2 is the sequel to Splatoon with new weapons, maps, and other gamemodes and such. Local multiplayer will be easier considering
one can link Switches together. This will be released this Summer.
- Super Mario Odyssey is a new Mario game in which he jumps to new environments, such as a New York-esque city, along with some new moves
and other features. Intended to be released Holiday 2017.
- Xenoblade 2, a sequel to the Xenoblade series. No given release date.
- Fire Emblem Warriors, developed by Koei Tecmo, is most likely going to be a Musou game (Hyrule Warriors Dynasty Warriors). No given release
  date.
- A Shin Megami Tensei game by Atlus is in development, not much else about the title is revealed.
- Project Octopath Traveler is a new Square Enix game.
- Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, is, in fact, going to be released on the Switch.
- A No More Heroes by Suda51 is confirmed, not much else about the title is revealed.

- Other games without a particular announcement will be on the Switch that were shown via a compilation.

WOAH!!!!!¡! MINECRAFT!!!!

man my tits are on fire all of this looks super fun

god dammit nintendo why are you switching to paid online i thought you were better than this
Quote
Playstation is Paid Online.
Xbox is Paid Online.
SOMEONE has to pay for the server bandwidth.
Someone has to pay for the content.
Someone has to pay for the continued matienance.
Complaining about these online services being paid is like complaining that Jim's Mowing costs you $20 a pop
Rockstar and Valve are able to get around it by using a P2P/Dedicated Server Model and making HELLA cash off of all of the microtransactions.
Hell, Valve takes a percentage cut from every single sale through their service.
Both EA and Ubisoft sell DLC and have their own marketplaces so they too can cover server costs.
It's such an immature perspective to just anticipate that things should "just work" because that's how they used to be, especially when there was actually a lot of complexity behind the scenes.

I'm so loving tired of handicaps crying about the prices of things increasing because they aren't intelligent enough to factor in things like inflation, minimum wage or just the general cost of services that console manufacturers rely on being raised.

I've not seen a single valid criticism towards the Switch yet. It's absolutely incredible how people will just find any reason to bitch and moan. Guess it's going to be tough titties for you when I'm enjoying Legend of Zelda on my 6.2-inch screen on the way to/from work and you'll be stuck with the pathetic line up on the old 3DS.

Yeah I can't wait to digitally beat the digital stuff out of my sister tbh.

Everyone knows bowser would have peach in a bikini as his background
peach in a bikini? what?

I can play doom on my 4.5in phone screen TOP THAT

honestly after thinking about it the paid online is fine
older bro managed to preorder it with breath of the wild which is great :)

One of my friends told me:

"They will see how online use is lower than the other Nintendo consoles

And then they will make it free, like it had to be in the beggining"
