Changes to be tested:
  • Make escape and brick menus deal with mouselock correctly
  • Add ability to rotate bricks
  • Fix bugs with super shift
  • Fix transparency issues where certain bricks had non-transparent ghost bricks
  • Find missing bricks that were unavailable to build with in the last test
  • Fix issue where sometimes the wrong sound would play
  • Add a color palette choosing menu
  • Prevent overlapping bricks
  • Prevent floating bricks
  • Fix issue where after a while your chats and sounds would start repeating and you'd have to restart the game. (Debug message added)

    Server will be up for the rest of the weekend.

    Edit: I seem to have broken a good few things today.
    I'll keep the server up, but later tonight I'm going to release a fix.
    Here are some of the issues:
    A brick will say it's floating even if it's below another brick
    A brick will sometimes say it's floating even when it isn't
    Users need to be able to bind their keys
    The option menu and save bricks menu tend to lock up
    When you set a color in your color palette it isn't the one you'd expect to change
    You need to place bricks deep in terrain to plant them on terrain
    Scroll through chat scrolls colors
    Sounds cut out

New test started, boot the game up and get going!

Fight in the in-progress dueling arena, hit players with debug outputs* and lag the server to death! Go!

This announcement has been posted in place of DrenDran and with his permission to avoid a triple post. Marios has no affiliation to the development of Land of Dran. Tiny letters actually kinda effective at getting attention. Copying any parts of this announcement for some reason will have you prosecuted at the proper courts. Actually lagging the server to death will have everyone responsible banned. Probably.

Bricks aren't being rotated about their center properly. I was able to do this:

Since yesterday I've fixed:
  • You can now hear multiple sounds at a time fine
  • Bricks will no longer say they're floating when they're not, or say they aren't when they are
  • You can rotate bricks fine now
  • Changing the colors on your color palette is a bit more intuitive now
  • You can bind many keys to whatever you want
  • A source of a crash was fixed
  • Bricks can be placed on terrain fine enough
  • Menus no longer lock up. (Worst case scenario, just close and reopen them)

Next up will probably be optimizations.
Then the ability to host your own server, and join others servers in-game.

I will probably add it soon.
Right now I'm trying to optimize a few things so people don't have issues playing.
I made the terrain and sprites only render that which is close to you, and instanced the sprites.
I also am making the bricks not render if they're out of your field of view or too far away.
I wanted to do something where I used instanced rendering of my models (e.g. guns and players), since they are exensive to render, but then realized that they have animations, materials, and hidden/unhidden nodes. That's going to make optimization difficult.

I've gotten it to go from 25-30fps to 60fps on my computer, but the goal is like 100fps at least.
This is with ~100-110 moving physics objects, the terrain, the environment, and about 20k bricks.

Optimizations are going well. I've gotten a rendering of the 45k brick golden gate bridge to render at ~600fps.

Except crappy 40 FOV captures only 10k bricks at a time, so, you cheated.

Actually the FOV doesn't yet have any effect on framerate.
Anyway, I might try doing a public test tomorrow, but it'll basically be the same exact thing, just faster.

How come? Doesn't more FOV mean you can see more things ergo more things render at a time?

Does everything within 180 degrees always render on your current engine or something?
