because it's annoying? some people like to play games and not be annoyed, surprisingly
me too but why does x mildly annoying thing require specific scrutiny? "don't be an starfish" is a lot more effective than micromanagement. excuse me i have to ban this person for standing really really close to people even though neither party is in any danger at any point that it happens.
...dude, it's a lot less effort to just ban the people for an amount of time in this situtaion than letting someone keep up their starfish attitude to irritate someone just for their enjoyment.
"don't be an starfish"
...it's not applicable to certain things, you are making a dismissive argument that it's only a game along with the statement that people will goof around, which both are completely debatable as people prefer to have fun in the game by being serious more than having fun ruining other people's enjoyment.
dismissing op's complaints =/= challenging questionable server rule
i'm not sure where you get the idea that everyone who isn't hardass mcdetective is an starfish only there to piss other people off, nor the idea that someone's fun is that fragile. someone is clickpushing me! hmm. if only i could do something to get them to stop. perhaps something involving using my legs to move away from the offending object. by god, i think i'm onto something!
should i really just go a competitive round and not do anything at all and rather have fun with knifing people constantly than actually gain kills and compete objectives in a cs:go match, because what, i don't like the fact that people don't like being knifed is wrong and it's a flawed way of thinking?
no and this is a terrible comparison
this doesn't work because in the case of despair syndrome you're still playing the game when you clickpush somebody for funsies, it's a small and harmless action in the lull of actual other things happening. you don't exist in some binary state between "playing the game" and "nudging some dudes."
clickpush is more like tauntspam. annoying? sure. harmful? not unless you've got your volume peaked. doing nothing, absolutely not; you're still playing the game, you're just also doing this annoying thing on top of it. also you're still gaining kills if you're knifing everyone but i digress
find a word to use correctly, it was consequential. it was a rule, if you don't listen you will face a ban or some form of punishment.
okay, how about unintrustive? unimportant? miniscule? any of these ringing for you? i guess i'll get punished for x silly action because x silly action is allowed.
imo its only okay to break a rule when that rule hurts the game itself, like when survival games have those dumb "no killing on sight" rules, when PVP is essential to how the game works
i'd like to take the time to clarify that it's not okay to break a rule you've been clearly told to obey. it's also not okay to have ridiculous rules for pointless, utterly harmless shenanigans, which people don't seem too keen on addressing for the sake of telling you off for doing thing he was told not to do, like this guy here
to add:
OP was clearly using the click pushing to be a nuisance and was appropriately removed from the server for it. click pushing to remove people out the way? OK. accidentally click pushing because your finger slipped or something? OK. click pushing to click push and be annoying? Against the rules. it really isn't that hard.
also i'm pretty sure you basically straight-up said he was trying to entertain himself because he was bored of the lull at that particular time. everyone keeps saying "oh he's just doing it to be an starfish" but i guess Everyone I Don't Like is an starfish
