its really funny that these business would rather lose money by shutting down instead of paying employees better
It's not about money its about sending a message.
Stay in your lane, don't question the boss and how dare you not slave away for poverty wages.
Every time i read their "nobody wants to work" poster i loving smile inside knowing theres a rich forget panicking as their slaves walk away from the plantation and all they can do is try and start a shame campaign.
Pay better or close your business and forget off.
Automation of nearly every job like this is on the horizon. And we should be planning a new economy around that.
Most people's issue with socialism is that people get paid whether they work or not. And when no one works willingly, they end up being forced.
However, technology has ended that one fundamental hurdle. Automating labor means that we no longer need to worry about losing resource gatherers to a UBI. In fact, if anything, it could free up people's hands to provide in other ways to society.
Surprisingly, people like doing what they want to do. Now there is the obvious within reason disclaimer. Cant have people running around knocking down mountains 'cause they want to.
But I hear so often "we dont live in a post scarcity world" which is technically true. Items are finite. However that doesn't matter whether or not people work. What matters is getting those resources without manual labor. We are capable of being in a post-manual labor world. An automated labor world. Where we have UBI payments from taxing automated industries.
However, will we get UBI or will the government and capitalists decide the labor workers have "outlived their usefulness"
