It has some really good armor that I assume is diamond.

I have some pretty ambitious goals for my skyblock survival.
Though right now all I have is a little garden type area with a small pound and a cobblestone generator hut.

because they think they look cool.

that's why everyone uses any texture pack, it has nearly nothing to do with how much effort the creator put into it's creation.

Just because it isn't detailed or anything doesn't make it fake and lazy.

It's a different style. Just because you don't like it doesn't make it not real.
