Author Topic: Minecraft Megathread; yeah its update 1.12 big whoop what about it  (Read 7187046 times)

I was going to make a big post about all this math and experimenting I did to find out if it was better to enchant an item directly or combine a bunch of level 1 books but I got to the tl;dr and wrote "enchant items for high risk high reward, enchant books for a more precise but expensive alternative" and I realized how obvious that is and felt really dumb

Bump.
Direwolf20's modpack updated to 1.5 yesterday. Woohoo!

New snapshot tomorrow, including biome changes. I know they wouldn't make biome changes unless they think we'd like what they are doing, because every time generation changed in the past people got angry. At the very least, Jeb showed that dark spots occur much less... Well, last time he did that, he found out it lagged everyone to calculate where to place late on generation, so we'll see if that was corrected. If we still hate whatever they are doing, we can yell at them... :panda:

And the options menu is now more dynamic. It is now a scrolling feature, which also gives each option more room. Besides that, it'd probably be easier for modders to add options for their mods to the game. Instead of adding buttons which lead to menus which you need to press more buttons to go deeper or even create an entire GUI for it, they can just add another scrolling options menu based off the vanilla code.

Edit: Jeb's lighting example:

Edit2: Menu:

Great. Now my alpha world will have the alpha generation, release generation, and new generation.

Last night I tried buying MineCon tickets and they sold out with in seconds. I'll have a better chance tomorrow.

Quote from: Snapshot or whatever
Added a "Time Machine" feature to use Beta Versions.
There's an option for Alpha but the versions aren't loaded yet.
Also allows players to play versions 1.2.5-1.4.7

:D

Right now, all Beta versions are supported. They plan to add Alpha, Infdev, Indev, Classic, etc. Official versions.

However, no snapshot today. That disappointed me...

:D
I'd be more excited if that was about terrain generation.

I'd love to have the features of release while playing on a beta world, perhaps with the new ores and structures spawning as-well.

Seeing as it's playing older versions, terrain generation is probably part of it.

Read my post.

I did. Just read it wrong

Is there anyway to fix the stuck keys issue on MC. I've looked up about it and it says to update LJWGL but it is already updated and is only effecting MC 1.7.3. Makes it very hard to have a fun experience with the old Minecraft versions.

If it's a version specific bug, they said they aren't fixing it. One reason might be laziness or fear of overworking over multiple versions, but a sensible reason is if they screw around with the older versions more than to make them work in the launcher if at all, none of the mods for that version will work.

I know but I meant like a mod to fix it OptiFine 1.7.3 has a smooth input option. And it worked :D
How do you mod older versions since it keeps erasing optifine.

You have to put it in a new folder, with a changed... uhh... information file... Well there's a file in the main directory for the version which you can open in a text editor and change a little.
