You're allowed to view your own add-ons that you submitted before it's approved or even if failed.
First, I said that it was moved to the section that I chose. Secondly, I both logged off RTB and checked, and asked someone else to check it too, and he both me and he could see and download it.

One problem I'm seeing with the bargain bin (besides it being filled with terrible add-ons) is that almost every add-on has someone asking "LOL WAI DIS BARGAN BINN 9999/999999 LOL EPHI IS TO STUPID TO SEE HOW GOOD DTHIS ADON IS!!!!!!"

I imagine that when that question (there was a question somewhere in there) goes unanswered, people begin to find the bargain bin a reliable source of add-ons. This would lead them to become "dumpster divers," filling their game up with junk. I think you should put a little message on each add-on, similar to the fail bin, about why the the add-on is in the bargain bin.

That's probably a good idea. I'll think about that when refactoring.

I don't think people would read it though. I think it's more a case of lessening the exposure even further so they're not even mentioned on the news feed either, but a reason to give to the author would also be good.

My only concern is that the "why's this bargain binned" questions will become "i don't care that it's high poly/a tube with another tube attached to it/ripped straight from another game with no consideration for the blockland style" statements, but at least the developers will get some intelligent feedback on how to improve their work in the future. I also like the sound of lowering exposure to those add-ons...

On top of that, default sounds copied instead of referenced so you have to redownload them over and over for each add-on using them.

If the add-ons weren't being moderated then there would be way more of those.

The thing that annoys me is how the emitter and sound lists are flooded with "someCrappyVehicleSplashEmitte r" which is exactly the same as "jeepSplashEmitter" and so on.

The most helpful thing would be for someone to write a tutorial on how to avoid this which we can then redirect people to when reviewing add-ons as opposed to explaining the concept behind it each time.

I'll be making more changes to the scanner to identify these issues. Part of my v4 plan is to have a public-facing scanner output before you submit your file which highlights any outstanding issues like stereo sounds or missing textures and files. It'd be nice to be able to provide people with links to help them fix issues listed in the scanner output.

Exactly!

my 1st addon got stuck in the bargain bin, and id still like to know why so I dont make the same mistake next time.

I think you should add a Wiki button on the manager, it could be usefull ;p

This.

Also yes, some sort of scanner might not be a bad idea but I'd imagine it'd take a lot of work.

I've already built a framework for the scanner which is used as part of the Mod Reviewing process. The work involved to make it more user friendly for people submitting the add-on is minimal.

Oh, that's nice to hear.

RTB v3.4 is now available on the auto-updater. Here's a changelog:

 - Strange issue where no mods would show up in the mod manager
 - Console errors from TransferQueue::removeItem
 - Removed redundant "warn/delete failed add-ons" options in Options dialog
 - Fixed errors when starting a server for a second time in one session (from re-registering rtb prefs)
 - Fixes automatic add-on updating from the main menu

Adds:

 - Content Downloading (when you join a server you'll download all the server's rtb add-ons and these are then put into a new category of the Your Mods window)
 - Unban button on the unban screen for super admins
