Author Topic: Dwarf Fortress Megathread! - Necro'd enough to count as a vampire  (Read 137837 times)

Started a new fortress, so far the map is only about one season old. The barracks, siege weapon training ranges, hospital, primary store rooms, and underground water storage system (it's underneath everything else, didn't take a screenshot of it) are under construction, along with the basics of the surface fortifications.

My 7 dwarves have been real busy.

Also the region is Heavily Forested, Warm, Untamed Wilds. And it rains a loving lot.

What texture set is that?
The other one was too glitchy to me, so I reinstalled.

mac linkHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
SERIOUSLY?

Yeah, which makes it odd that there is a .exe in the mac folder...

Maybe the Mac version is just a wrapper that surrounds the .exe, allowing Macs to play it.

I'd like to know as well
That's Mike Mayday's graphical pack.

Also, ?, there is a cap. Legendary for all skills, and some other title for all attributes.

If you read the readme inside the folder, then you wouldn't need explaining.

Open the file named 'df' in the folder, a console window will appear, then the game itself will appear.

:/ I'm so stupid for not thinking of that. Thanks, it works perfectly now.

This spot is so nice to  build a fortress in. I have natural mountain walls on all but one side.

It's apparently not a cap in fortress mode for dwarves. On my last fort I had a Legendary +6 Siege Operator. Your dwarves reach Legendary at level 15, he was level 21.

Don't forget to take out the ramps surrounding the mountain walls, otherwise they aren't really walls. ;P

Doesn't look like you have any stockpiles.
My main stockpiles are going to be the two large rooms adjacent to one another underground. So far I moved all that wood from outside in there along with some other stuff. Above those will be all of the possible workshops, and across the hallway I'm currently building the meeting hall and stuff. The hospital is at the left end of that horizontal hallway, down one Z-level is very large water reservoir. The farm will also be next to the hospital, so I have easy access to the water reservoir in order to pump water into the farm for mud and things. The barracks is next to the main access hallway, with the siege weapon training area behind it. Rooms and nobles offices will be three Z-levels underneath the main floor. For the surface fortress I plan on building it such that my archers have a clear line of sight on enemies approaching the entrance, they will be commanded to rotate from training to being stationed at that area once I have two squads and they are sufficiently trained. The entrance will be a double drawbridge airlock-type setup, I'm thinking about mechanical ways to make it a real airlock (So it's only possible for one door to be open at one time). There will be a large pit around the entrance pathway, the bottom of the pit will be lined with cage traps.

I'm not sure if it even effects flux stone but try putting minerals to frequent, and check around mountains.

aww stuff

I just actually started playing, the sense of satisfaction I got from watching my miners digging out a cave was so great

What does it mean when mountains are yellow?
There be gold in dem hills?

You kick The Lasher in the head with your left foot, bruising the muscle, jamming the skull through the brain and tearing the brain!
The Lasher has been knocked unconscious!
The Lasher has been struck down.

Oh wow I threw a silver arrow and it chipped someones right true rib and tore the left lung, tearing a tendon in the right true rib.
You're doing it wrong. You throw sand or snow at someone until they start vomiting their guts out or bleeding. Then you throw their blood and vomit at them.

Then when you fight someone else, use their corpse.

I once tossed a goblin corpse at a elf, the elf fell into the water and died due to sharks.

Adventure mode. T to throw. G to pick up.

I always like throwing axes at people because you have a pretty high chance of cutting their leg off.
