what sucks for me is I grew up going to several bullstuff protestant churches, everything I know is from several different churches giving several different versions of every book, verse, and story.

now my parents are "converting" (I guess?) to Catholicism and they say it's, yet again, a different set of stories, rules, and the like, but this time it's the "right" one.

so much confusion, even if I was interested in reading the bible for arguments sake I wouldn't know which one to read. lol

I think the problem may be that the standards of proof are different here. If Firecycle finds scientific proof (or more accurately, science misinterpreted to support his claim) he is still accepting science and its methods. Science and Creationism can't coexist. So finding Scientific evidence would mean that you did have 'faith' in science and therefore would ruin your argument totally. I presume then that your proof is based entirely on your faith in 'God'. This is fine in proving it to yourself, but you cannot use that as a formal proof to others. I accept your right to believe in Creationism, just please don't impose it on others.

Lust is not allowed even in marriage, the only reason you can have love is to have a baby. Why make it pleasurable?

We would be better off with less people. Do you happen to know anything about God's plan for overpopulation?

i dont understand the need for jesus or why god changed his mind and sent him.

at first god demanded we sacrifice our best crops and livestock.
then he one day changed his mind (because thats what all knowing, wise, perfect beings do) and said we can now kill his kid instead, for an infinite use sacrifice to pay for all future sacrifices.

as if sacrificing things to appease a god isnt some pagan bullstuff in itself, why would "god" change his mind one day and want something different?

as if a physical ceremony should even be needed to be forgiven of sins to begin with.

Come to think of it, if "Intelligent Design" was real, everything would be entirely different. The human optical system is upside-down and the nerve cords cross each other. If a god designed that, wouldn't he make them straight and right-side-up?

Religion supports killing, segregation, war, and intolerance. Atheists use their own free thought to make decisions instead of a bloodstained storybook. Religious people teach their kids all sorts of ridiculous "facts" to keep them believing, while atheist parents let their children use their own mind and logic to find morality and truth. There is no "book of atheism" non-religious parents read their kids, yet alone silly-looking child enthusiasts waving Roman execution structures at large crowds.

Organized religion is one of humanity's biggest embarrassments, and most progress-hindering too. Comparing this barbaric form of logic to atheism is unfair.

Atheists don't brainwash anyone. I was raised by an atheist and an agnostic. There was never any book read to me stating that religion is bullstuff. I never went to a big stone structure and was lectured en masse about how no god rules us all and we need to spread this ideal. I learned all this myself.
