So the motherboard isn't receiving power from either of the psu's but they both work?
Yes.
I have no idea what the problem could be though with the motherboard

Yes.

I shorted my motherboard with a faulty usb connector, so it's a good possibility you shorted the mobo.

Check all your power connections, WALK. I remember a power cable of mine wasn't fully in so my computer wouldn't turn on and I stuff myself. Fortunately everything checked out.

You didn't do the old male-to-male connector fail did you? :S

What build should I get if I want to decently run first person shooters?

Sorry wait what.

There is a game called 24 or are you saying you want 24 frames per second? Please clear this up I'm tired and this is like what. o_o

Also what is your budget.

I'm so confused ;-;

What games specifically though? Do you want something that can beat a console or...?

Anyway if you are prepared to fork out $80 or more you'll get at least 30-40FPS in games on med detail or more.

If you fork out 110 you'll get a lower end 560ti, which is very good.

Or you can shell out £160 for an XFX HD 7870 like I did and play everything on max at at least 50+ FPS.
50-70 FPS on BF3 at Ultra is pretty fun :V, I could be getting way more but my CPU is bottlenecking my card a bit, I either need to buy a Piledriver or OC it to 3.8 Ghz+ and for the latter I need a new CPU cooler

24 FPS in games looks sad :(

EDIT: Mind the doublepost...

beachbum, try re-seating your RAM. Take both cards out, swap them and put them back in. Be sure to press them in firm but not too hard. They should make a "click" feel and sound when they're pressed in correctly.
