If she's doing digital art then she probably wants an IPS monitor with decent color reproduction and maybe a beefier CPU if she does 3D stuff. I'll put together a list for you when I get home from work.

hey so it seems like that my mom's allowing me to get a better PC for xmas if i also include it as my birthday present (aka i ain't getting jack stuff for my birthday)

we were looking at PCs at best buy that were around $900-1000 in price, so i'm assuming that's the kind of price range i have. i'll ask her after she gets back from the gym tonight for a better estimate

long story short, i wanna make a nicer PC build than the xmas build i made a bit ago (too lazy to fetch the thread, probably buried by now).

i'll edit this post when i finish up the one i'm working on, but for now, y'all got any good ideas? trying to avoid iBUYPOWER/CyberPowerPC/pre-built stuff due to me hearing lots of bad things about it

rapidly tossed this one out. obviously unoptimized and the RAM is just a joke/a dream. it's definitely cool looking but it's loving $200 lol

a comp like that requires heavy amounts of ram and an i7 (8 threads)

a few video apps render using video card nvidia cudas. i think vegas.
but most dont so it doesnt matter.

For a video editing rig that's pretty good, but for gaming it's pretty unbalanced. Also you REALLY want an SSD unless you're really strapped for cash.
Here's one I put together in maybe half an hour or so:

speaking of huge ass jumps i just upgraded from a gtx 560 to a gtx 1060 6gb
according to userbenchmark it is literally 4x as fast. This is gonna be huge

yo could someone whip me up a 800 USD gaming desktop (includes monitor and keyboard/mouse, not just tower).

Check out the following. It's a good balanced build for someone looking to do graphic design/digital drawing (anything along those lines) and should be very capable with gaming.
Getting an IPS panel will also be beneficial for color reproduction which is ideal for those uses.

Case: Rosewill ATX Mid Tower
PSU: RAIDMAX 535W 80+ Bronze
Motherboard: ASRock AB350 Pro4 AM4 ATX
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1500X 3.5GHz
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws V 8GB kit DDR4 2133
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 1050 2GB
HDD: WD Blue 1TB
SSD: Team Group 120GB SSD
Monitor: ViewSonic 24" 1080P IPS Monitor
Peripherals: Logitech MK200 Keyboard and Mouse Combo

Total price: $798.91

*edit: Forgot a hard drive. derp*

Hope this is suitable for your friend.

Just make sure your CPU is capable and not producing a bottleneck.

Can't friggin wait to get an i7 2600k here in a week or two!

Also in that week or two, I'll get 260 dollars from my dad, since I had to give him my paycheck since we were broke for 2 weeks, and he's giving me it back. It's enough to buy everything on my part list, except the monitor. That is fine though, I can just my TV for a bit until I get one!

I'm so DAM excited

Why such an old CPU?

Great moves Ethan keep it up. I'm proud of you.

But seriously thanks

FYI that power supply is kinda junk, a CX450 is far better, otherwise it looks good.

corsair CX power supplies are always hyped and praised and idk why, they're only average just like the rest

although i will personally vouch against raidmax, since i had a 1000w from them fry a motherboard

there is such little of a difference between the i7 2600k to the i7 7700k that the i7 2600k can perform just about as well as the 7700k in games

The older models sure, but the ones that came out last year are awesome for the price with decent warranties to boot. The only unit that competes in the segment is the EVGA B3, and that came out just a few months ago.

100 dollars
performs extremely great
already have a h61 mobo that supports overclocking (MSI H61MU-E35 B3)

PSU: RAIDMAX 535W 80+ Bronze
That PSU is absolute garbage, no clue why you recommended it
