So what exactly triggered its shutdown? There WERE plans for the future, and if those weren't to be done, why shut it down still? It was used by many and it'll create a large backlash. Unless it costed a pretty penny to keep up, I see no reason to shut down.
However, I'm not pro in all this. I bet all the services that it had to be able to function DID cost money, so there might be one reason.

Stop crying about RTB being removed, like seriously, there's other ways to communicate with people, I'm sure some scripter will make something similar, maybe not as good, but it's fine.  and those to you who say "I dont wanna use steam" then dont, forgeters.
