: Are we being attacked?
"I... maybe?" Cualli glances around the hangar. She tries asking one of her coworkers if they have any idea what just happened.

Bell is third in line with the PAK-FA, while Ellie remains on standby next to the Wyvern.

: Somethin' blew up over that way, I heard it!
: Could've been one of those stealth airships, I'd keep an eye on the nearest exit.
: Nah, I don't think so, listen for a sec- our guns ain't shooting back. And I didn't hear no cee-wiz buzzin' away before the kaboom anyway, so it probably wasn't a missile what hit us.
: You think it came from the inside then?
: stuff, I dunno, maybe it was some dumb forget reactor technician fallin' asleep at his console n' starting a meltdown. Man, that guy is gonna be so fired when he wakes up.

Ash bolts into the hangar bay, his running made crooked by the banking of the carrier. He comes to a sliding stop in front of the Tukreb and looks over the pylons in a rush before practically jumping and grasping the roosterpit ladder. Ash scurries up the rungs and drops into the seat.

A stone's throw away, Lorens fastens his oxygen mask, flips the battery switch and closes the Shiva's canopy. He turns on the comms radio in time to hear a repeat of the situation, and hails a tractor to take him to the elevator.

Within minutes, both fighters fall in line behind Bell's Su-57 on their way to the flight deck.

Cualli watches the Mjolnir pilots sprinting into the hangar, slightly amused at how they have to run due to the slant. "If we weren't attacked, then it had to have been the reactors blowing." She pauses, frowning. "Which won't be any fun to try to fix."

: At least it will not be our problem. Your training does not cover that area of expertise, correct?

Your superior officer spots you and the other two engineers standing about and starts shouting at the four of you from across the room to get to work securing loose objects in case the listing gets worse.

One after another, the planes are launched with as great speed as can be mustered under the imbalanced conditions. Not even twenty minutes after the explosion, the Tordenskjold has all its pilots in the air.
: Mjolnir, Djuriskas, this is Vicemarshal Lawniczak. I've notified the rest of the fleet of our situation and the Sky Marshal has ordered you to fly south to rendezvous with them without us. He said he'd be sending a pair of cruisers out to meet you halfway and refuel your planes.

Jaakko is peeved that the carrier has suffered an accident so close to the end of the war.

He shifts his bearing towards the objective.

"Well, technically it's everyone's problem, since we're all on the carrier, but--"

Before Cualli can get into technicalities, she's cut off by her superior.

"...right. C'mon," she says, keeping Elu close by as she starts helping with efforts to secure the deck.

The Aesthian formation leaves the carrier and its escort and begins heading across the ocean to meet with the tanker. You don't even get thirty miles out before Skytracer's engine output begins to drop and she starts lagging behind.

Before you can even lay your hands on your work, there is an announcement over the PA system:
: Airman Cualli, report to port engine block. Repeat, Airman Cualli to port engine block.

"forget," she whispers, making the quick connection that that was the engine that suffered the failure. "Come on." Cualli sprints out of the hangar, heading towards the port engine.

On her way, she tries to figure out why they'd be calling her to the engine. It doesn't take her long to remember the other engineer's mention of a reactor meltdown and the fact that Elu wouldn't be particularly vulnerable to radiation. Well, not the same amount of radiation that would be fatal to a human-- she knows that enough radiation can potentially fry Elu's electronics, but there's no way that there's that much radiation pouring out of the engine.

She arrives at the block with Elu, slightly winded. Cualli makes a mental note to try to get herself back into proper shape once this is over. "Sir?" she says, approaching whoever she sees the highest ranking patch on.

Markus follows Crash's lead.

Tippy frowns to herself as she stays within formation.

"Why would a reactor explosion happen so soon to a big fight?" She says over the comms to Jaakko.

"You don't think it was intentional was it? Our engineers haven't been bumbleforgets for most of the trip."

Skytracer notices the reduced engine output and radios in with Crash and the carrier.

"Huh, it looks like the Wyvern is having engine trouble, requesting permission to return to the carrier."

"I don't know. Negligence would get an engineer lynched by the Sky Marshal, and those reactors have tons of safety measures in place. It could be the case something was faulty. I'd say it's fifty-fifty honestly,"

Jaakko frowns, peeved again.

"Granted. I'd make sure they can receive you, they might not be able to land you depending on how bad the list is. Any way you can leave us with the drones?"

"I don't like this at all. This reminds me of the time 20 of our MBT's went down in Palestra before a massive push into mainland. We caught one of our own mechanics leaving tools in sensitive areas."
