actually obsidian was never set to get royalties, they were set to receive a big flat bonus

strictly speaking though they didn't hit the mark and as bullstuff as that is both party's hands were tied from a legal perspective so there was nothing anyone could do

loving-A, harm gets banned and tony steps in to be annoying bethesda-is-antichrist guy

at least harm is tolerable and a good guy all around

They were told if they received 85% score on metacritic they would get a bonus instead they got 84% and got nothing. Any human being would be like "okay you guys spent a year of hell here is your bonus" but because Bethesda is run by robots they got nothing.

First of all let's forget the fact Bethesda gave Obsidian an impossible task. Obsidian had only a deadline of a year and a half to create New Vegas. Which is shorter than the average Bethesda project because Bethesda comfortably develops a game for 4+ years but that's besides the point. The point is Obsidian in a years worth of time created a far more intricate and complicated story than Bethesda ever could. Do you know how hard it is to develop a game where pretty much 99% of the population is killable?

This lack of a bonus surely didn't help their near bankruptcy situation. They even had to cancel a project because of this.

Not to mention New Vegas had much more complex quests like the quest "Where's the beef" in the strip where you have to stop cannibalism. There is so many ways to finish that quest. You could kill the residents, kill the father, kill the son, embrace cannibalism, stop cannibalism, sacrifice your companion, drug their drinks. This was just a loving side quest but damn is it detailed.

Your average Bethesda quest: Run to point A to pick up this thing I am looking for then run back to point B.

your average new vegas quest is run to X location and solve a speech check so you dont have to kill Y enemy at Z location

Which I believe is better than solving every problem with your gun in Fallout 4. You can beat New Vegas without technically killing anyone.

go away tony
we've heard it all before.

Fallout 1 and 2 are stuff. I have never played them before, but I know that they are stuffty games and if you like them than you should feel bad :)

Then there is no hardcore mode and it's replaced with survival mode.

I killed a legendary roosterroach by stepping on it and for some reason it was carrying a legendary plasma 10mm pistol. How does an ordinary 10mm pistol shoot plasma without a special attachment? Beats me.

So despite the fact no one asked for a Borderlands style of loot they did it anyways and excluded hardcore mode. Despite it being the most popular mod in Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Skyrim. Also despite the fact Obsidian were deeply involved with the community and saw how everyone really did like hardcore mode and put it in. Bethesda chose to ignore the community and Obsidian as they excluded Hardcore mode.

If you don't like REAL RPGs they are stuff to you then.

tony gets brown town over a legal agreement that happened 5 years ago part 1 of 3

I'm also brown town for the lack of any RPG elements to the game. It's just a shooter now.

tough stuff. get over it and stop posting in this thread if you're so upset about it. there's nothing you can do about it and bitching to us won't change anything.

Well since everyone shares the same mentality as you, no wonder games are being more casual these days. If you're going to just lay there and accept it without challenging the developer.

Why would I challenge them over something I like?
