so he had an unprecedented era of dominance in melee from about 06 to 08, winning most tournaments he entered. he got bored and tired of the game then retired (after his lowest placement in years? don't quite remember). after winning so much, he lost interest and motivation I guess. I don't remember the gritty details but that's the basic need-to-know anyway. also eventually he returned and is ranked in the top 100 players
From what I understand people were kind of hateful towards Ken so he left. That was how the doc portrayed it, anyway.
i don't understand how people can get hyped over matchups that consist of zss/rosa/sheik/diddy kong/sonic, there's like 50 other characters in the game you'd think people would get bored of the same few
you don't even see fox or captain falcon often anymore
Going forward I'd be surprised if the tier list changes very much in Sm4sh. In Melee's early years there was a lot of room for growth because 1. lots of tech skill to be discovered and implemented 2. lots of strategies to be implemented 3. nobody took it as seriously as people take smash now
But like six months after the game came out the best characters certainly rose to the top. And there's not much groundbreaking tech skill I see, and people already take it seriously so much ground has already been covered, so all that's left is for new strategies to develop.
If I had this game I'd only play Fox and CF B) #VOTE4ME #BUYMETHIS
You basically described melee.
The players make the match interesting, not the characters themselves. (unless you whip out Samus during grand finals of of a big tourney or some stuff
Nairo used Doctor Mario vs. ESAM and won, so that's cool, although Mario is already pretty high tier I think
