TBH when I played Undyne the Undyings battle on by brothers computer I quite enjoyed it, despite how much I died

Not that items do too much against her. She hits like a runaway freight train. Most healing items don't do anything until you're good enough at dodging that you won't lose it right after gaining it. I hear Sea Tea can be useful in the red segments, though. I think that's the one that boosts speed.

i saw videos of the genocide run final boss on youtube and it looked really difficult. i thought it would be the most fun route for me but i guess it isn't

Yeah genocide was really disappointing for me. It had the potential to be something really good, but it's just a boring grindfest that amounts to an entire 2 actual fights. Like it would've been cool if there was a bit more to it than what it actually is.

Undertale is more about the story, each revealing more and more to the plot in each playthrough
