Even when those temporary stairs weren't there, they wouldn't spawn anyways.

There is no above surface door, both doors are connected through underground tunnels to the surface. There are usually 5 "houses", and are 4 when the stairs are there. My guide, a dryad, and a demo are not spawning even with all requirements met. Problem?

No they're not, I've had 4 people living in them for a while now.

I have a similar problem. I've killed Skeletron, and the Clothier still hasn't come. All the rooms are big and all are above surface.
