I have no issues with it on my craptop. It takes nothing to run.

Say that with a 100-200 strong fortress, or any late game fortress for that matter.

Not sure if these goblins are bad shots or just want to screw with us.

I always happen to fight goblins who shoot me in the death zone.

It's amazing how 1 crossbow bolt can take you from a goblin slaying machine to a helpless wimp.

I was playing the other day, and killed an entire camp pretty easily. So I walked up to the final crossbowman. He suddenly shoots me and then beats me to death while I lose hold of all of my weapons.

My first wound for an adventurer usually starts a spiral towards death for me. I get ONE moderate/bad wound and I start failing defensive rolls and take forever to make a turn, which makes me continue to fail defensive rolls and take more damage, which...

It sucks.

Also, the newest devlog.

Looks sweet.

Also, I wish old saves were compatible. My Spearwoman would still be owning everything. I would never have to worry about crossbows anymore.

I was playing as a speardude (On accident, I wanted to use swords). So the quests I got were far away and I knew I would have to sleep outside, so I proceed to journey to a castle to get some warriors. On the way it is getting close to sundown, so I decide to sleep on the outskirts of a village. It turns out that the place I was sleeping wasn't actually the outskirts of a village and the bogymen come. I proceed to run to the actual center of the village, which turns out doesn't actually exist. So I am running around in circles throwing silt and clay at bogymen because I am faster than them. I end up killing one and mortally wounding another.

Then I decide to run to the nearest town. It is going well and I am easily avoiding the bogymen. Then I come across a bunch of canyony/mountainous terrain. This is the worst because you cannot see up and down the Z levels to avoid the bogymen. I manage to make it to the end and can see a house. Then a hidden bogymen attacks me from another Z level. He injures my leg and I fall down. Luckily, I manage to shatter his leg with a counterstrike and still retain enough speed to outrun the bogymen. I step away and then stand up, I think I am going to make it. Then I fall unconscious and a bogyman proceeds to rip out my throat.

Yep, that happens. If you reach a town and everybody's asleep already, try to sleep in a house and someone will instantly wake up to confront you and you can ask for permission to stay.

There weren't any houses in the village. Or the site locater gps thing in the upper left was broken.

Yeah, it tends to be very bad about giving decent directions. Some hamlets have such a low population that there aren't many houses to begin with. If there are, you always find them in the yellow area of the hamlet (which is hard to spot at night, since everything takes on a shade of blue).

I start a new character and kill a few goblins and some dingoes. I walk into a castle and ask a random guy (not a lord or anything) for a quest. He tells me to kill a creature of the night with 792 kills... no thanks.

Not letting this topic get too old to bump.

Bump. Toady added in goblin sites again, and now he's doing sites for the rest of the races.

Fun fact: Toady wants elves to live in massive, carved-out trees presumably.

This will be a glorious time!

I was actually just looking at some of the planned stuff yesterday.

I haven't played Dwarf Fortress in some time, though I'm making a new world and adventurer right now so this should be fun.

EDIT: Is it a bad idea to go try to kill a vampire that has killed 1,795 people as my first quest?

EDIT2: Yeah it was.
