Chat commands make me bleed

chat commands or client mods

they're both terrible options

although i think there was one thing that someone made that was like a menu made out of centerprint text mods that was pretty cool

well your version is obviously better so why not just go ahead and host it, you could close the server down when there's no staff available (like you do with your jail escape, I think?)

you're not just going to let the gamemode sit there in the dust right.

personally i like well-done rp servers such as Kreon's which usually had a lot of players.
i also like MERP but that's a bit of a hard niche to get into

What happened to Kreon?

It's been awhile since I've seen a tdm where you have to unlock/purchase better weapons and progress. Those sort of tdms kept players coming back to progress and make thier own custom loadout to suit thier needs.

Player retention could also be increased if the tutorial was more visible. There are plenty of players who join servers without knowing the basics. This might cause frustration, which turns off people from the game in the long run.
Soooo much this.
Badspot, pleeeeease add a tutorial button back to the main menu :(

What if instead of copying other games, we do what makes Blockland so great and come up with new interesting gamemodes?

I mean, we had BossBattles before Evolved was even a concept.
Even with better gameplay and all.

I am also pretty sure Bockland had the first Deathruns.
Now games like Gmod copy it years later.

Look, I am not saying Blockland is a hipster that had "gamemodes before they were cool".
But we are the frontier of modern game development.
We don't have to wait for a big corporations to stuff something out what their board of directors have decided.
We get the chance to come up with ideas and actually build them ourselves, without any prior game design knowledge.

We don't have stick to something we know works, like they do.
For example, we don't need yet an other realistic FPS.
We could host an FPS where everyone has overpowered weapons!
I've been on such a server and it was loads of fun!
edit: server is called Battlemix

What I'd like to see is more experimental gamemodes.
More open WIP servers working on something awesome.
So the new players can see that they themselves can come up with all these awesome things.
Maybe they will want to help.
And if you teach them a bit, they could become hooked to the feeling of creating games.

That is when how you get someone addicted to Blockland.
The server hoppers that will only consume other peoples work tend to not stay that long.
But the creative minds can never leave.

yay battlemix

that sounds like a tHREAT

It all comes down to the quality of servers more than not knowing the controls.

yay battlemix
That was indeed the server I meant.

that sounds like a tHREAT
I've been trying to leave Blockland for 8 years but I keep coming back.
I swear, it is like I am chained to it.

Battlemix ADHD, of course.

When I go on Blockland, half of the time it's because I'm looking for a server where I can just go nuts and fly off the wall, no strings attached.  The other half, is in my own server working on something.

Wrong topic?

Wrong topic?

Oh no, I was just saying that nowadays half of the time I go on Blockland I'm looking for a server where I can just let loose/de-stress, and that other players probably want that as well seeing as Battlemix was so popular all the time.  I never go on Fortwars or Mini Empires any more because I put so much effort into detail that I never actually finish them, so instead I spend the other half of my time on my server, where I can build up my portfolio.

we could put the master server on lockdown

no one leaves

I think something that rewards the player increases retention. Freebuilds and the "Blockland and chill" type servers reward the player with relaxation and a chance to show off/improve their building craft.

Other servers such as CityRPs don't have a reward based system so players usually don't stay very long. Although players in CityRPs earn money, they do nothing to deserve this 'reward' and they can not spend it on anything other than food, decreasing retention basically due to the futility of the system.
